Daniel K. Davies, Founder and President of AbleLink Technologies, Inc., has been actively involved in research and development of assistive technology for individuals with intellectual and cognitive disabilities for nearly 15 years. He has been closely associated with issues important to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families all his life, having an older brother, John, with severe mental retardation. He received a Bachelors degree in Psychology in 1982 from Bethel College, Arden Hills, MN and a Masters degree in Clinical/ Applied Experimental Psychology in 1984 from the University of Colorado. In addition to serving as a Principal Investigator and lead researcher on numerous projects funded by the U.S. Department of Education and the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation, he was appointed Adjunct Research Associate to the University of Kansas’ Beach Center on Disability in 2001 in recognition of his leading role in the field of cognitive technology research and development. Currently, Dan serves on the management team of the Beach Center’s Disability and Rehabilitation Research Project (DRRP) on Technology Use and Mental Retardation. He has authored over 30 reports, research articles, and book chapters specifically on the use of assistive technology for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and he has presented at conferences nationally and internationally. Prior to founding AbleLink he worked as a human factors scientist in the aerospace industry, as well as in the human services field as a counselor/case manager providing direct care for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
